Registration Fee
Before each academic semester, every student must pay a CHF 2’800.- Registration Fee which guarantees your place in the school if your application is accepted.

Included in the Registration Fee are:
  • Registration documents
  • Residence permit
  • Compulsory health and accident insurance during the academic semester. Swiss and European applicants who are insured privately will be refunded. For details, please contact the Registrar.
  • Textbooks
  • Teaching materials
  • Tie or scarf
  • Kitchen uniforms (for European Culinary Management students)
  • Kitchen shoes for certificate students
  • Federal taxes
  • Free Internet and E-mail access
  • Free Wireless LAN available all throughout the campus
  • Student ID card
  • Social assistance from Student Counsellor
  • Use of library, gym, and other premises

Additional charges
Rooming in a standard twin room is included in the Academic Semester Fee.
If a different type of accommodation on campus grounds is required, the following additional charges per semester apply:

Twin (with en suite bathroom) CHF 500.-
Single (with shared bathroom) CHF 1’125.-
Single (with en suite bathroom) CHF 1’750.-

Laptops
At IMI, the courses are delivered using a blended learning system. This is a combination of computer based and traditional learning, and therefore, all students need to have a laptop with the following specifications:

  • Voltage: 220 V
  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP (English Version) or Microsoft Vista (English Version)
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Powerpoint (English Version)

Students may either bring and use their own notebook (as long as it meets the above mentioned specifications), or purchase one in Switzerland (cost starts at approx. CHF 1300.-) with the above mentioned specifications. The school can assist the students with their purchase if needed. It is also possible to lease a laptop from IMI for a CHF 500.- fee per academic semester.

Payments
Academic Semester Fees are payable 8 weeks before each course commencement, especially for the countries requiring visas.
The fees may be paid in full or in instalments. The first instalment must be at least 50% of the total amount due and is payable 8 weeks before course commencement. A yearly bank interest of 10% is charged on the balance of fees, two weeks after course commencement. All dues must be paid latest 12 weeks after course commencement.

Reduction of fees
Students preferring to stay off campus will have following reductions from the Academic Semester Fees:

No rooming CHF 2'500.-
No food (if residing outside) CHF 2'250.-
No rooming and no food CHF 4’750.-

Scholarships
Special fees apply for Swiss applicants.
A limited number of scholarships are available for community service. For details, please contact the Registrar.

Terms, conditions and refund policy
Withdrawal from school, cancellations: In the event of withdrawal 60 days before the commencement date of a course, a refund of 50% of the registration fee will be made. The notice of withdrawal must be in writing to the school by registered mail. There is no refund for withdrawals for any reason whatsoever after the deadline.

Deferment: An accepted student may (at the discretion of the school) defer his place up to one intake and his registration fee will be held for confirmation of place. Should such students withdraw later, there is no refund of the registration fee.

If during a semester, a student withdraws for any reason, no refund will be made.

Dismissal from school: There is no refund of any fees if a student is dismissed for academic or disciplinary reasons from the school.

Visa refusal: Students whose applications are not accepted or whose visa application is rejected will receive a full refund of the registration fee and Academic Semester Fees paid.

IMI reserves the right to alter fees, dates and curriculum without prior notice.
