In striving to achieve our vision, our mission is, through the provision of a safe, secure and conducive environment for all stakeholders, to provide every student with the best possible opportunity to acquire relevant, up-to-date knowledge of the subject area of international hotel and tourism management and to develop skills appropriate to their present and future needs.  Our mission permeates our approach to teaching and learning in an environment of multi-culturalism and rapid change.

From the Mission Statement, IMI aims to meet the following objectives: 
(a) to advance education and training in and for the tourism and hospitality industries and by a range of means encourage and develop creativity and learning, for the benefit of the community in Switzerland and elsewhere;

(b) to equip our students through education and training in both traditional and modern management techniques to assume managerial positions in mid-size and large hospitality and tourism operations worldwide;

(c) to develop the student as a whole person to be gregarious people of integrity capable of inspiring respect;

(d) to select managerial, academic, and operational staff on the basis of relevant education, competence, experience, but also on their commitment to educational goals;

(e)  to treat all staff and student members of IMI fairly and with respect and to foster professional development in all its forms while at the same time extending empathy and support to those with personal difficulties;

(f) to advance, preserve, disseminate and respect knowledge, culture and learning through teaching; and

(g) through influence and example to promote wisdom, empathy and understanding.
