Luzern

Luzern is in the center of Europe and one of the main tourist hubs as well as a University town

Lucerne has become an art and design centre and in 2008 won the competition K17-Root-Roundabout.
Luzern is in the German speaking part of Switzerland, whilst many Swiss Hotel Management Schools at a comparable high level are located in the French cantons of Switzerland. Out of a total of around 5000 hotels in Switzerland more than 4000 are located in the German speaking part. Because of this imbalance our students have a wider choice when it comes to paid work experience.

Because of its beauty Lucerne is attractive to leading academics who love to come to Switzerland for educational assignments and guest lecturing.
Moreover, IMI is the only Swiss Hotel Management School working closely with Luzern-Tourism, a partnership that offers opportunities collaboration, project work and access for field trips.

As a long established tourism destination, Lucerne welcomes all comers and treats them fairly and warmheartedly.

It is a fun place for young people to enjoy a drink or a meal at any of the restaurants along the lake and river. At the same time, students can work on projects by accessing the internet through Luzern's unique and free wireless city Internet.
Being at the centre of Europe, Luzern is built as an ideal starting point for other European cities, a 5-hour train-trip brings you to Paris, a flight ticket with any budget airline can bring you to London for as low as 30 US$.
It is a lively city and throughout the year locals and visitors can be seen strolling around the city, sipping coffee, shopping or just taking a nice walk along Lake Luzern's shoreline. Some of its buildings are known worldwide such as the modern KKL building and famous wooden medieval Chapel Bridge.

Luzern not only provides a perfect holiday experience, but it is also perfect for international students who want to be well prepared for an ever changing global economy.

Studying at an international school in the German region of Switzerland is not problematic as more and more international schools are switching to English. Even in the local primary schools are starting to teach this important international language. Our students can join intensive English language courses to prepare them for further studies.

Luzern will grow further, as a hub for education as well as for business. Luzern's growth is being driven by the private and public sectors working together: major firms such as Sage and AC Nielsen are expanding their activities here. Canton Luzern invested over CHF 1 billion in 2005 on its education and training, cultural and leisure facilities. Private investors are backing the Ebisquare development: a new style of shopping and leisure in the suburb of Ebikon. Read more details online at the Luzern-Business page.
