IMI and Cocolino
On September 18 whole Luzern will be about ENJOY FOOD. Within the a swiss nation wide promotion of food Luzern will host a full day of culinary enjoyment under the slogan "Luzern Geniesst" . The entire city celebrates a big culinary feats many activities and booths and of course great food: The "Naschmarkt" on the Bahnhofstrasse, the cheese-festival on the Kapellplatz are just few of them. Of course IMI is part with its students and IMI head Chef Shaun Leonard and will actively support the Cocolino children cooking healthy food with herbs with Chef Oski, who is called the "poet chef" and works together with his partner Oskar Weiss to essentially make more children happy through food and visuals . The 15+ "Chef Kids" will be supported by the whole team of Circle des Chefs de Cuisine Luzern !
 
IMI Chef Shaun Leonard competes with Luzern culinary team
Our IMI head chef Shaun Leonard spearheading the Luzern culinary team CCCL Cercle des Chefs de Cuisine  The will compete against Swiss culinary national team and Swiss culinary junior national teams as well as international teams from Italy & Germany, the teams will have to produce a cold display program on a table 3m x 3m . The competition commission demands the highest quality as this competition is seen as the forerunner o the world culinary cup in Luxembourg, where the CCCL will also be in action. You can watch the artists and their creations on the 15th September in the cold presentation arena. More info (d)
 
Kocharena ZAGG competition 2010
Three IMI Culinary students active participating at ZAGG "Kocharena" competition. IMI is proud to announce having 3 culinary students to compete at the prestigious ZAGG culinary competition with Young Siang Kwang and Phua Kok Siang (both Singapore) and Khadijah Amirah Sallehudin (from Malaysia). The Koch Arena is considered THE main spectacle of ZAGG 2010th. Within only one hour, the participants will conjure a main course of fish and shellfish. The audience can watch the chef artists up close and cheer. Hope IMI will get a lot of support from its students and friends. Best be there on competition days Sept 15 & 16

IMI has its own Cheese! Shaun Leonard Executive Chef & Senior Lecturer in Culinary Arts: "Periodically through the year IMI visits "Schaukäserei Schwyzerland" to make cheese following the traditional methods over an open fire in a 300 years old copper pot with Urs Bucher Cheese master of the factory, the small hut in which IMI makes the cheese is from the 17th century and was a working "Alm Hütte" and was dismantled bit by bit and re created inside the modern cheese factory to allow people to make cheese traditionally as well as seeing how the methods are today.

IMI Students research for SPSS

From IMI's Senior Lecturer Dr. M. Vieregge: "SPSS Switzerland supported with free software copies this study at IMI. The study investigated the concept of SOFTWAREQUAL proposed by the author which measures the gap between students' expectations of statistical software in general and their satisfaction with SPSS as an example. The participating students took a one-week introduction module between completing the expectation questionnaire and the one about satisfaction. Students want flexibility and ease of operation and were overall quite happy with SPSS in these areas". Read the whole article here (G)

TEDx ZUG On May 27, 2010. IMI webstrategist and lecturer ICT has been speaking at the second ever TED x event organized in Switzerland (TEDxZug). The topic was on recent developments on the Internet : The Sensory Web available online). The event was sold out and local business people from the area of Zug participated. Among the guests were as well Prof Michael Hitchcock and Gavin Caldwell from IMI. Organized was the whole event by Simon Quick, Nathalie Albrecht and Jack Vincent. Sponsor was Zug Tourism and Zug4You .
 
IMI Chef heads Luzern Culinary Competition Team

The IMI Culinary Arts and Hotel Management Students got their first taste of a gala banquet in the form of outside catering last monday (26th April), the Chefs Guild of Luzern (CCCL) hosted a Gala Dinner at the Luzern LUGA Expo with the Guild Culinary Competition Team doing the cooking aided by some of IMI's culinary arts students. The hotel management team assisted in the set up of the event as well as the apero.
A gourmet 4 course Dinner was served to guests from Luzerns gastronomic public as well as local celebrities, the goal of the event was to raise funds to allow the competition team to compete in 2 major competitions this year in Luzern (Zagg) and in the culinary World Cup in Luxembourg (WACS2000).
