Manchester Met. 4th Hospitality Forum

25 March 2021

We were delighted to, once again, participate in the latest of UK partner Manchester Metropolitan University's hospitality forum series...

With the impact of Covid-19 being felt throughout the industry, our partner school Manchester Metropolitan University has launced a series of online forums examining the topic: Global hospitality’s road to recovery.

Run in partnership with the Manchester Hoteliers Association, the aim of the series is to gain an understanding of exactly what impact Covid is having on hospitality and how hoteliers are working to overcome it.

IMI students were able to join with their counterparts in Manchester and other international partner schools, to attend the online forums and ask questions of the expert panel.

Now that the vaccination programme in the UK is well under way, the tone of the fourth forum was one of optimism, with panelists looking forward to potential re-opening dates and stratergies to boost business for the remainder of 2021.

Guest speakers at the event included the General Managers of the Native Aparthotel, the Abode Hotel Group and the Edwardian Manchester Hotel, with the event co-hosted by Adrian Ellis, GM of the famous Lowry Hotel in the city.

Commenting on the motivation for launching the forums, Manchester Met. Senior Lecturer, Diane Connelly said: “We want to keep all our hospitality students and alumni up-to-date and what better way than to hear from industry experts.

“Our students and alumni are now following the journey with industry and can appreciate how resilient hospitality is.”

It was great for our students to hear from current industry leaders and get an insight into their strategic thinking in the midst of what is an unprecedented global challenge. We would like to thank our colleagues in Manchester for inviting us to participate in what have been a truly insightful series of events.
