UOW Malaysia KDU 25th Anniversary

It was our pleasure to join a special 25th Anniversary Celebration Gala Dinner at partner school UOW Malaysia KDU...

Hospitality, as with many businesses, is all about relationships and building lasting connections.

At IMI, some of our most important relationships are with our international network of partner schools, and one of our longest is with UOW Malaysia KDU.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of our two institutions' collaboration and, to celebrate the occasion, UOWMKDU kindly hosted a special Gala Dinner at their Glenmarie campus.

IMI's CEO Professor Gavin Caldwell and Head Chef (and former alumnus of both schools) John Rölli flew out to Malaysia especially for the event which also saw many alumni in attendance.

Dignitaries present included Mr. Werner Bardill, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Switzerland in Malaysia, and it was also a real pleasure to hear a welcome speech from Ms Jennifer Ng, also an alumna of both schools and now CEO at Asia – UOW Global Enterprises.

Following speeches from Prof. Caldwell and the management team at UOWMKDU, there was an exchange of commemorative gifts, and we were honoured to receive a beautiful wooden plaque which now sits in pride of place at our Kastanienbaum campus.

Of course, we wanted to introduce a Swiss element to our present, and the unveiling of a giant, traditional cow bell brought a delighted response from our hosts.

Commenting on the importance of IMI’s partnership with UOWMKDU, Prof. Caldwell said: “This relationship is a very special one that has developed and matured over the past 25 years.

“At the heart of its success are the people who work in both organisations and, of course, all our great students and alumni, so many of whom are now doing wonderful and exciting things in the industry.

“I would like to offer a big thanks to our friends at UOWMKDU for such a wonderful celebratory dinner - it was a real pleasure to be in attendance.”

In any context, a relationship of 25 years is an impressive achievement, and we have no doubt our connection with UOWMKDU will last many more years into the future.

We would like to thank them for hosting such a wonderful event and we look forward to returning the favour when their students visit us here in Switzerland later this year.
