Our international partners and alumni are incredibly important to us and we love having the opportunity to visit them in person.

On a recent visit to Malaysia, IMI CEO Professor Gavin Caldwell had the chance to visit not just one but two partner schools as well attending a special alumni reunion.

The trip was the latest in a series of opportunities for us to reconnect with our global network following the travel restrictions of the previous years.

During a busy week, Prof. Caldwell was honoured to be able to attend the Convocation Ceremony of partner school UOW Malaysia KDU and present the IMI degree awards to their graduating students.

He was also able to visit our culinary arts specialist partner Golden Chef Culinary Academy with our official IMI representatives and enjoyed catching up with the school owners as well as their students.

One of the highlights of the visit was a specially arranged reunion for students who had studied at both UOW Malaysia KDU and here in Switzerland with us at IMI.

Prof. Caldwell had a fantastic time catching up with alumni from the past 20 years and hearing how they had progressed in both their professional and personal lives.

Reflecting on the trip, he said: "It is always a productive and enjoyable business trip in Malaysia with our local and long-serving IMI representatives keeping me busy promoting IMI, meeting our partner schools and catching up with our many alumni in the country.”

He added: “Malaysia is such a diverse and multi-cultural society which reflects the international environment experienced by students who continue their studies with us here in Switzerland.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our key partners in Malaysia for their on-going strong collaboration and of course their generous hospitality - I look forward to returning in 2023."
