The Manchester Metropolitan University - Educational Partner with IMI for over 15 years. The Hollings Faculty is one of the oldest centres for hotel management qualifications in the UK and Europe Hollings, the Department of Food and Tourism Management has been officially recognized as a ‘Centre of Excellence' for teaching and has strong links with industry and professional bodies which helps to ensure that that programmes and research projects are relevant to the needs of the industry.
All IMI's undergraduate programmes are validated by the Manchester Metropolitan University ensuring the highest quality assurance standards are maintained. All stage awards (Certificate and Diploma in Higher Education) and the final BA (Hons) are dual awards by both MMU and IMI. IMI is the first and only Hotel Management Institute which has an ALL stage award from a University.

MMU Partnering is successful The University underwent a Collaborative Provision audit (CPA) in March 2006. The Report, including the University's response, is published on the QAA website. The University received an extremely positive report. It continues to work with its partners to ensure that the standards of its awards ar maintained and the quality of the student learning opportunities are enhanced.

Ranked top 20 in Research In the Times Online University Guide 2009, MMU was ranked among the top 20 in Research quality (200) They used data from the most recent Research Assessment Exercise. Seven different ratings were awarded for quality. The number of staff entered for assessment was also recorded.
